Site Updates
January 12th 2012 - The whole site has been completely re-written and updated. The site still uses the same template, but the design has been refreshed to give a cleaner look and to make the site more readable, especially on mobile devices. The site is now fully XHTML 1.0 and CSS level 2.1 compliant. As part of the re-write, the Weather Display Live software was updated to version 6.08. Extra information has been added to the astronomy sun and moon page. An image gallery has been added using Plogger, an open-source photo gallery system. Added a new page (weather snippits) which will replace the blog. This page will include any notable weather feature throughout the year.
January 14th 2012 - Added who's online page. Image gallery of the snowfall of November / December 2010 added.
January 18th 2012 - Added a webcam image archive which stores 1,000 images taken at five minute intervals and a live webcam view page. Amended recent trends page to show additional wind speed plot.
January 21st 2012 - Added extra wind plot charts on the recent trends page.
February 2nd 2012 - Added latest webcam videos page which shows videos from the last 10 minutes, last hour, all day and yesterday.
February 4th 2012 - Added station graphs page using data previously uploaded to Bracken House's Weather Underground page.
February 12th 2012 - Added a page about why Selston Common Grasslands are a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (click here).
February 16th 2012 - Added a Birds of Bracken House page.
March 9th 2012 - Weather station now has a solar sensor and is measuring sunshine hours, solar radiation, solar kilowatt-hours and evapotranspiration.
March 14th 2012 - Added snowfall and snow depth pages to the daily / monthly / seasonal section. Snowfall started recording on July 1st 2011 and snow depth on March 1st 2012. Also added snow totals to the daily records page.
March 16th 2012 - Added a wind hours and energy chart to the wind monthly summary page.
April 1st 2012 - Re-designed weather home page and re-named it 'Weather Summary'. This page now contains far more information than previously.
April 4th 2012 - Added an alternative dials page that doesn't use Flash, therefore works on iPad and iPhone. Find it here. Changed the sun and moon page to add more information and colour.
April 18th 2012 - Added a January 2012 image gallery - click here.
August 24th 2012 - Ultra violet sensor added. The UV index is now displayed on the home page, also giving a sunburn time and the day high. At night, a three day forecast is displayed, along with the day's highest UV index. Links to UV index data added to the sidebar.
September 10th 2012 - Updated and improved world earthquakes page.
December 26th 2012 - Added daily detail, monthly summary and seasonal summary reports for evapotranspiration.
January 8th 2013 - Bracken House Weather joined the European Weather Network. A map of the locations of all stations on the network and loads of statistics can be found on the European Weather Network (EWN) page here.
January 10th 2013 - Added a real time visual representation of the Davis Vantage Pro2 console which drives the weather station. The page can be found here.
January 12th 2013 - Added an aurora forecast page. Added flickr logo, linking to my personal flickr account, to menubar.
January 20th 2013 - Added a statistics section to the European Weather Network page.
January 24th 2013 - Added a map of the sky over Nottingham - view here.
January 28th 2013 - Weather Display software main screen is now uploaded at five minute intervals. The screen can be found here. About this site page now shows this image.
February 3rd 2013 - Fixed first snow of season and average date of first snow of season on home page.
February 4th 2013 - Added daylight hours script to sidebar so that it is visible on every page.
6th February 2013 - Updated the alternative dials page to the latest version, with extra features. Incorporated the external links in the sidebar into the main navigation section.
8th February 2013 - Created a forums section in navigation sidebar. Added link to MetServ forum. Re-named 'External Links' to 'Weather Links' in sidebar. Updated the birdlife page to include a siskin.
10th February 2013 - Updated the birdlife page to include a pop-up photo of a chaffinch.
12th February 2013 - Last hour and today so far videos now use mp4 file format for compatiblity with Apple devices. Added a setting for Soil Moisture Deficit to the home page. It can be found under 'Irrigation Index'. Moon transit time now working on astronomy page.
13th February 2013 - Yesterday video now using mp4 file format for compatibility with Apple devices.
21st February 2013 - Air Quality Index removed from home page as no United Kingdom data could be found.
4th March 2013 - Updated the birdlife page to include a pop-up photo of a grey heron.
15th March 2013 - Updated the birdlife page to include a pop-up photo of a kestrel.
20th March 2013 - Yearly video added to the latest videos page.
23rd March 2013 - Added a reed bunting to the birdlife page.
14th April 2013 - Cosmetic improvements to weather home page.
